On Tuesday Schlierzauer announced his step after being deleted from the cadles of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV).
The Tyrolean wrote on his website: Active performance sports has kept me in the past 15 years with all its heights and depths in motion, fully filled up and sustainably shaped. It was a unique and emotional journey that goes on differently.
Corona disease and cruciate ligament tear
In the past season he had also weakened by a corona disease only eight World Cupkoints and could not recommend it for the upcoming Olympia winter. At the end of February he had drawn his cruciate ligament.
In his career, Schlierzauer celebrated a total of 53 World Cup victories, won twice the overall World Cup, three times the ski flight World Cup and twice the four-headed tour. He was also in Vancouver Team Olympic champion in 2010 and six times world champions. His last World Cup victory in individual is already nearly seven years.
