While the staff of the American giant showed a few days ago in front of the Blizzard Campus to denounce sexist practices and harassment largely instituted in the direction, several hundred Ubisoft employees split from an open letter in the form of support, Not reminiscent of the inaction of their employer since the Journal's investigation published in July 2020:
It has been more than a year than the first revelations of systemic discrimination, harassment and intimidation within Ubisoft are out. At the time, you were surprised to hear about these acts in your own business and we gave you the benefit of the doubt. However, we have seen nothing more than a year of kind words, of hollow promises and a disability or a reluctance to return the known abusers.
epistolary relationship
A few hours later, the CEO of the French publisher addressed an e-mail in the form of an answer to all its employees:
I want to personally reiterate our commitment to real and lasting change at Ubisoft.
We have made significant progress during the past year. Since last summer, we have implemented new anonymized activity report tools, reorganized our human resources and put in place a policy aimed at preventing discrimination, retaliation, harassment, installed a new code of conduct, Deployed mandatory training ... These are important stages, the process is long, and there is still a lot of work.
Yesterday's letter expresses concerns from our employees who want to make Ubisoft a better place to work. We have heard that all are not convinced by because what we have put in place.
Indeed: Part of the signatories of the letter of support subsequently contacted our confreres of Games Industry to inform them of a persistent discontent in the face of a direction which continues to avoid certain issues:
We are aware that the company has progressed, and we are happy to read that exits and executives believe that this is not yet enough.
** On the other hand, Ubisoft continues to protect and promote known stalkers, management continues to avoid the issue. We want to see profound changes within Ubisoft and throughout the industry for the good of our members.
It is hypocritical to say that management is working on these topics while protecting toxic people who abuse their position of power. ** Do better than that, or you will continue to see people well.
Unlike many small screen presenters, Ubisoft employees therefore seem determined not to drop the song as long as their requests have not been the subject of a precise and argued answer. Let us hope that the time be conducive, and that they actually get the expected details.
